James Finley
Thomas Merton's pupil

"AWAKING MYSTICAL AWARENESS"
Saturday 4th March 10-4
Sunday 5th March preaching at our morning service
James Finley entered the Trappist Monastery of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in 1961.
He then spent 6 years with Thomas Merton (below right) who acted as his Spiritual Director, giving him a unique insight into the life of the man who has defined the practice of Meditation and Contemplation for many people today.
After being released from the order he has become a renowned spiritual teacher in his own right, writing books and conducting retreats all over the world. A faculty member at the Center for Action and Contemplation, he is the author of Merton's Palace of Nowhere and The Contemplative Heart, and the host of CAC's podcast Turning to the Mystics. He is commonly acknowledged as an enlightened master and a day spent in his presence is a taste of heaven. In this day, he will be leading us into a place where we can awaken Mystical Awareness.
