Music at the Aspen Chapel

Nicholason-smallSusan Nicholson, MM The Juilliard School, leads an eclectic program of music during the Sunday Worship Services as well as Concert Series and Special Events.

For over two decades, the first Sunday of August hosts the annual Bach Cantata. Conducted by esteemed maestro Steve Finch from NYC, the Aspen Chapel Choir is joined by the talented students from the Aspen Music Festival and School. This collaboration is a wonderful joining of our two superb music programs. A different Cantata is performed each year with the service geared around that piece. It is both educational and deeply inspirational.

The Summer months have music filling our Sanctuary on nearly a daily basis. The Aspen Music Festival hosts three weekly concerts of Chamber music, Piano soloists and Spotlight recitals, as well as Sunday mornings when Susan employs these brilliant young players to enrich the 9:30 a.m. Worship Services. The Annual Spring Concert is varied and exciting. From the Poulenc Gloria and Durufle Requiem, to a concert inspired by birds, these are a welcome start to Spring! The annual Festival of Lessons and Carols, performed the Sunday before Christmas, has become one of the most popular services to date, with a semi professional choir of 40 singers.

Our amazing roster of professional musicians love to perform in this beautiful Chapel. The music adds an element of worship that words cannot.
